CLEAN FOR HEALTH – CLEAN FOR ENVIRONMENT
Clean Sweep Janitorial is proud to offer an optional “green cleaning program” at no additional charge. Green cleaning is about the health and well-being of the living occupants in the business being cleaned. Unlike traditional cleaning, it goes beyond simple appearance, focusing on products, tools and services that have fewer adverse health impacts than conventional products and procedures.
WHY CLEAN “GREEN”?
Be smart – clean smart. Recent innovations in the cleaning industry have helped to launch the Green Cleaning Movement by which we can have safer, healthier and more productive facilities. We can now do this with green cleaning products that perform equally as well and with less aggressive ingredients as their traditional counterparts. Cleaning “green” assists in reducing exposure to potentially harmful chemicals that can endanger the health and safety of building occupants, visitors and the cleaning staff; plus, reducing negative impact on the environment.
IMPACT ON INDOOR AIR QUALITY
Cleaning chemicals contribute 8 percent of non-vehicular volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which cause atmospheric smog when they evaporate. Green alternatives are available that have low or zero VOCs which reduce the pollutants in our buildings where they are inhaled by the occupants and from there enter the atmosphere. On average, Americans spend 90% of their days indoors. EPA studies indicate that indoor pollutant levels are 2-5 times higher, and can be as much as 100 times higher, than outdoor levels. Traditional petroleum-based cleaning products are a major contributor to these pollutant levels. These toxic cleaning chemicals can cause headaches, dry eyes, nausea, dizziness, fatigue and asthma.
WHAT IS GREEN SEAL CERTIFICATION?
Green Seal, Inc. – a non-profit organization that strives to achieve a healthier and cleaner environment by identifying and promoting products that cause less toxic pollution and waste, conserve resources and habitats, and minimize global warming and ozone depletion. To earn the “Green Seal”, a product must meet Green Seal’s environmental standards and undergo rigorous testing and evaluation. Green Seal has no financial interest in the products that it certifies or recommends or in any manufacturer or company. (www.greenseal.org)
